1.0. SUMMARY DETAILS

  • The 62nd Head of the Yarra. 8 kilometres from the Melbourne CBD to Hawthorn.

  • Provisional time for Race start is 8.30 AM Saturday, 27th November 2021. (Fourth Saturday in November)

  • Date for Entries Open is July 1st 2021.

  • Date for Entries Close is Monday 0900 18/10/21, 6 weeks prior race day, or earlier if the cap has been reached.

  • When cap is reached we will accept entries onto a waiting list, but in the past, very few crews have withdrawn.

  • Australian Crew entry is via ROWING MANAGER .

  • Seat fee $60.

  • 2021 Entry Cap - 180 Crews - exclusively 8-oared crews.

1.1. RACE ORDER (2021 TBC)

8.30 AM (TBC) start in four brackets with separation. The Schools have been allocated the first bracket to allow early departure, and with the oldest masters, lower exposure to heat risk.

The older masters are in the second bracket, again to reduce heat risk, then younger masters and then club / open.

1.2. ACCOMMODATION

Options with Mantra city properties the Amora Riverwalk (opposite race-finish at Hawthorn) and 3 Quest Apartment properties in Hawthorn, Kew and Abbotsford.. These hotels are conveniently located with the 48 and 75 route trams connecting guests to the start and finish areas - ACCOMODATION.

1.3. TRAILER PARKING

Competitors are encouraged to park boat trailers in the city at the start of the regatta.

There will be no boat trailer parking at the finish in Creswick Street this year due to construction work.

Creswick Street will not be available for unloading boats from the roadway.

1.4 BOAT HIRE

Perfect Balance Rowing our 2021 presenting sponsor and distributor of Fillipi and Swift Racing Shells, will assist interstate and overseas crews to source and hire equipment for the 2021 race. <Details Here>.

1.6. Para-Rowing

This year’s event will again include a Para Eight event. Athletes wishing to complete in this year’s Para Eight event must hold a Rowing Australia Provisional or National Class-action classification.
