Pre-start warm ups.
Pre- Start on river warm ups will be permitted for the first time in the 2019 HOTY. Crews planning to warm up should carefully consider the arrangements. It is the responsibility of each crew to ensure that it does not miss its start time.
Arrangements for crews seeking to warm up before the Head of the Yarra
New arrangements are being trialled for the first time in the 2019 Head of the Yarra and require all crews intending to warm up to obey any instruction from an official and exercise due caution to avoid collisions with other rowing boats and commercial ferries in and around the landing area or downstream of Princes Bridge. Commercial ferries will be using the jetty on the north bank opposite the city boat sheds during the HOTY. All crews proceeding to or returning from the warm-up area will be required to give way to any ferry in the process of turning or underway. Congestion may occur and it is the responsibility of each crew to ensure that it does not miss its start time. Hawthorn Rowing Club will manage the situation by deploying four staging marshalls in the warm- up area and start aligners in the start area. Hawthorn Rowing Club takes no responsibility for any crew that is late for its start time and also reserves the right to suspend warm up if the situation becomes unmanageable.
